Our Mission:
When Rhiana Glor founded Healthy Creations in 2007 her intention was to present the San Diego community with an opportunity for affordable, organic, healthy food. Today, Healthy Creations is a growing small business with a thriving take-to-bake meal program, a delicious gluten-free granola on the shelves of local grocers, and an in house deli and bakery that keeps customers coming back. The true mission of Healthy Creations rests in the ingredients we put into our food…our meats are free-range, grass-fed, and organic…our vegetables are from local and organic farms…our baked goods are gluten free, without processed sugar, and full of flavor…and, our employees are full of a love for healthy food!
About the Chef:
Rhiana Glor graduated in 2001 from Bauman College of Natural Foods with a Whole-Foods Chef certification. She strongly believes in the benefits of eating organic and makes it a way of life. She has been creating recipes for as long as she can remember and always enjoyed sharing them with others. She loves food, eating and helping people learn how to eat a more natural diet. She is here for you, whether it’s a question about Healthy Creations or just about how to make healthy, organic eating a way of life. Healthy Creations has also been lucky enough to find a great group of staff who are passionate about organic food and are great chef's themselves!
Why Organic?
The labeling on certified organic foods tells you that the food was grown and produced in accordance with U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) standards. These standards prohibit the use of synthetic pesticides, genetically modified organisms or ingredients GMO's, irradiation, and the use of "sewage sledge" as fertilizer. Organic livestock eat organic feed and are not given antibiotics or hormones, and have access to pasture. Organic products are grown in healthier soils, which contain higher levels of nutrients. Organic farmers are working in harmony with nature, and are actively nurturing land for our benefit, as well as that of our children's children.Consuming organic food:
- Shows respect for our land (organic farming does not deplete valuable nutrients from the soil)
- Shows respect for our water supply (organic farming practices reduce the toxic run-off into our water supply)
- Means the food has more nutritional value, according to research done by nutritionist Virginia Worthington, and reported in the article Organic Farming, Food Quality and Human Health.
- Means consuming far fewer pesticide residues than "conventional" foods grown using toxic pesticides, herbicides and synthetic fertilizers which can contribute to health problems. These were the findings of a 2002 study led by the Consumer Union of Consumer Reports.
- Tastes better! Organics foods are often locally produced, thus they travel less distance to reach the consumer and are generally fresher.
